Ford Ids License Activation

How to: download and install VXDIAG Ford IDS or Mazda IDS latest version V112 software on nactive machine (no virtual machine).

Ids
  1. IDS System Utilities License Management Set Dealer Information In an effort to make the connectivity process more user friendly, Ford has replaced the activation process.
  2. A software license is required to use IDS/FDRS software with a VCM, VCM II, or VCMM or FJDS/FDRS software with a VCM II or J2534 compatible device. Purchase: Upon purchase of a Software License, a user will receive a 20-digit licensing activation code (key). The user can activate the key using the 'Activate a License' feature in the software.

Software version: V112.01

Compatible device:VXDIAG VCX NANO for Ford/Mazda, VXDIAG Multi tool for Ford/Mazda, VCM2 clone using VXDIAG solution

A software license is required to use IDS/FDRS software with a VCM, VCM II, or VCMM or FJDS/FDRS software with a VCM II or J2534 compatible device. Purchase: Upon purchase of a Software License, a user will receive a 20-digit licensing activation code (key). The user can activate the key using the 'Activate a License' feature in the software.

Operating system: Win7/Win8/Win10 (free to try yourself)

Preparation:

Download IDS V112 & patch from previous post here.

How to install Ford IDS V112/Mazda IDS V112 on native machine?

Step 1: Install IDS setup

Install IDS-112.01_Full setup

Accept license agreement
Select destination folder
Click on Install

Install IDS 112.01 installshield wizard until completed

Ford Ids License Activation Code

Restart computer after installing setup

Step 2: Install VX Manager

Open VX Manager
Accept license agreement
Press Next


Installing VCX SDK Driver

This will also start VXDIAG Cloud Diagnostic Service

VX Manager installation completed

Connect the VXDIAG Ford interface with laptop

Open VX Manager to check connection status (If use VCX-DoIP interface, it will auto detect and connect to laptop)

Select Diagnostic Software: Ford IDS

Install Ford IDS driver

Step 3: Install Patch & Run IDS

Open IDS patch

Ford IDS requires teh following information: dealer type (Ford/Lincoln/Mercury),Dealer code (1111) and country

Press tick icon to continue

Ford Ids Software License

Auto starts IDS software and diagnose vehicle.

Done.

IDS Software License Renewal Process

IDS Software Licenses must be renewed to continue using IDS beyond the expiration date. The license renewal process consists of two steps:

  1. In the IDS Software License Account* - Create a new 20-digit renewal activation code.
  2. In IDS - Activate the new 20-digit renewal activation code in IDS.
*IDS Software License Accounts accessed as follows: Ford Dealers and Ford Internal Users: PTS website, Ford Fleets: Fleet.ford.com → Maintenance → Technical Resource Center → PTS, Retail Customers: Motorcraftservice.com → IDS Software Licensing
Step 1 - Creating a New Renewal Activation Code in PTS

There are two ways to create a new renewal activation code as described below:

  1. Auto Renewal Process - (Available Only to Dealers and Ford Internal Users)
    This process automatically creates a new renewal activation code thirty-four (34) days before the existing license expires.

  2. Manual Renewal Process - (Available Only to Retail and Ford Fleet Accounts)
    This process requires an action to select the Renew Button from the IDS Software Licensing Screen to create a new renewal activation code as shown below.


The above two processes create a new renewal activation code and assign it to the same Reference Number of the currently licensed activation code. Newly created renewal activation codes will be displayed and highlighted on the IDS Software Licensing Screen as shown below.


To view all the activation codes assigned to a given Reference Number, click on the Reference Number on the main IDS Software Licensing Screen.


The Reference Number details will then be displayed as shown below.


Step 2 - Activating a New Renewal Activation Code in IDS

There are two methods within IDS for activating a renewal activation code, both methods require an internet connection and are described below:


  1. Silent Activation Method
    • This method automatically activates the renewal activation code in IDS.
    • There is no screen displayed when the license is activated.

  2. User Initiated Method
    • This method and allows the user to activate the renewal code at any time by selecting the System Utilities Page → License Management → Renew a License as shown below.

    • A screen pop-up will display after completing the activation.


Once the renewal activation code is activated using one of the activation methods described above, the System Information Page in IDS will be updated with the new Activation Code (last 4) and the new expiration date as shown below. The IDS Software License Screen in the IDS Software License Account also updates the Status field to ‘In Use’.
